Please be aware schools across the state of Georgia must participate in an intruder alert drill mandated by the Safe Schools Act. Crisp County Schools will participate in these drills starting tomorrow, September 19, 2024 and will conclude on September 25, 2024. This is another proactive safety measure to help keep CCSS a safe place to learn, work, and grow. Thank you for your help!

We have an increased presence of law enforcement at our schools out of an abundance of caution. Working in collaboration with the Crisp County Sheriff's Office we agreed that an increased presence is the right thing to do at this time.
NO Schools have been on lockdown today!
We respond to every report, perceived or otherwise, in order to assure the safety of our students and staff.
We also have drills planned but not as a result of any threat. Under the Georgia Safe Schools Act, all Georgia schools must conduct an Intruder Drill every year by October 1 and report the drill to the state to be compliant with the Act. This is a routine event that is conducted every year.

***Please Share***❗❗📢📢Increased Law Enforcement Presence at Crisp County Schools ❗❗📢📢
This week, we met with the Crisp County School Board to address the recent threats made against schools, including Friday’s threats and those at the middle school on Monday. These incidents are part of a broader pattern of threats seen across Georgia.
While none of the threats we investigated have been deemed credible, our top priority remains the safety of our community’s children. To ensure this, we have pledged additional officers to our schools given recent events. We are also increasing manpower and security measures, particularly for events that allow public access to school grounds, where individuals who are not normally present may attend.
Out of an abundance of caution, you will notice an increased law enforcement presence at Crisp County Schools. The safety of our children is nonnegotiable, and we are committed to ensuring their protection at all times.

The Crisp County School System uses an online application called Thrillshare to communicate with our parents, staff, and students. Thrillshare allows us to manage online interactions across the web, mobile, social media, and alerts within one place. This is the same mobile app that we use to notify you of weather events, bus delays, and other information. Today, we used the app and have since discovered there is a glitch preventing complete functionality. We do apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused in communicating efficiently with you in regards to today’s events. It seems that certain functions worked properly such as the Live Feed and Facebook, but not the notifications or text messages. Our technology team will be working with the Thrillshare support team to resolve these issues. We want to thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to work through this issue.

We received notification that a possible threat was in our midst. School system staff and law enforcement responded immediately and started a search of the Crisp County Middle School campus. At this time, there is no evidence of any device to cause harm.
Out of an abundance of caution, we evacuated the school for a thorough inspection by the Crisp County Sheriff Office. We appreciate everyone’s efforts and support while investigating this bomb threat. There has not been any mention of a possible shooting incident. CCSS will take every threat seriously to protect our students, staff and community.

As Superintendent of Crisp County Schools, I want to address today’s incident involving a possible threat. The safety and well-being of our students and staff are our top priorities. We take any threat of violence very seriously and have protocols in place to ensure a swift and thorough investigation.
We are working closely with law enforcement and mental health professionals to address this situation appropriately. We are also reinforcing our commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment for all students. We ask for your cooperation in reinforcing with your children the importance of reporting any concerning behavior to school authorities immediately.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we work through this matter.

Parents,
Thank you for helping us have a wonderful beginning of school experience this year! We are very appreciative of your support and patience. On tomorrow, Friday, August 23, 2024 our Cougar’s will be traveling to Atlanta to play Lovett High School. Out of town football games require several buses in order for all of our students to compete and perform, and we are very proud of every group. With more than normal buses out of the route rotation, you can expect delays with bus routes. To avoid such delays, you may want to arrange an alternative plan. Otherwise, please remember to be patient as our bus drivers work diligently to deliver every student home safely. Thank you

We are continuing to monitor the weather. We are expecting more wind and rain, so please be careful and very cautious on the roadways. School will resume as normal tomorrow, Tuesday, August 6, 2024. As always, please continue to stay alert and keep up with safety information on the Crisp County Sheriff's Office Facebook page and our social media accounts. Thank you for your patience and flexibility.
Additionally, parents please also remember tomorrow is only day two of school, so traffic in school zones will still be quite congested. Bus routes may not be on their normal schedule until next week. Please keep this in mind when planning your day. Younger students must be received by parents/adults. When parents are not home it will cause a delay in the remainder of the route. Thank you for helping us be more efficient with getting all students home as quickly as possible while remaining safe.
